Super record -- S.F.-based JCF phonathon raises $2.8 million
Raising a record $2.8 million for the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation — $500,000 more than last year — Nov. 23’s Super Sunday drew nearly 1,000 volunteers of all ages for the phonathon at the Grand Hyatt in San Francisco.
Joining the effort were Super Sunday chairs Steven Lee and Alyson Geller, with 5-month-old Rudy. The first donation to Super Sunday a few weeks ago was a 50-year-old tzedakah box that Joan Schulman of Santa Rosa brought to the JCF’s Sonoma office. It contained $4.68, mostly in pennies, which she filled decades ago but forgot to give away.
