Students win contest prizes

Six Bay Area high school students have won prizes in Holland & Knight's 2000 Holocaust Remembrance Project.
First-, second- and third-place prizes are awarded for both an essay and an art contest. Prizes are $500, $300 and $100.

First-, second- and third-place art winners are Jennifer Kung, an 11th-grader at College Preparatory; Eric Lerner, an 11th-grader at Lynbrook High School in San Jose; and Jared Leiderman, an 11th-grader at College Preparatory.

Participants in the writing contest submitted a documented research paper of 1,500 words or fewer on the theme of "Never shall I forget that night: Survivors remember the Holocaust."

Participants in the art contest submitted a piece of original artwork responding to the the same theme.

First-place winners and their sponsoring teachers will visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
