Search on for director of Hebrew U.’s S.F. office

A search is currently under way for a new director in San Francisco’s American Friends of the Hebrew University office.

The former director of the regional office, Stanley Bresh, has left to pursue other things, he reported, and the office here is temporarily closed. Bresh had been with the organization since 1999, which supports the Jerusalem institution’s scholarship and research.

Peter Wilner, executive vice president of American Friends of Hebrew U., promised not only a new director but a larger Bay Area operation to support the Israeli university.

“Our intention is really to expand the operations of the San Francisco office in order to be able to bring Hebrew U. much closer to the community,” said Wilner.

Once a new director is in place, that person will hire at least three or four people as support staff, he said.

“Historically, there has been a lot of support in the Bay Area for Hebrew U.,” Wilner said, “and many of our lay leaders there have expressed interest in us getting more involved in the community than we have been in the last five or six years.”
