Cahn, Dr. Michael (aka Max Crandall). In Berkeley, Oct. 13. Husband of Mitzi (Rachleff) Cahn for 39 years. Father of Colin, Evan and Jeremy Crandall of California. Brother of Thelma Kerwin and George Crandall of Michigan. Graduate of Detroit Central High School, class of 1946. Received bachelor’s degrees in chemical and industrial engineering from Wayne State University in 1950. Served in Michigan Air National Guard from 1948 to 1953. Graduated from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1965. Relocated to Berkeley in 1978. Continued general family practice in Union City until forced by illness to retire in 1997. Member of the Richmond Torah Center of S.F., Chabad of Berkeley and Beit Midrash Ohr HaChaim of Berkeley. Interment was at Tel Shalom of Rolling Hills Cemetery in Richmond. Rabbi Chanan Fled, Rabbi Yehuda Ferris and Rabbi Ahron Hecht officiated. Colonial Chapel of Oakland directed. Donations to a Jewish charity of your choice, any Chabad House or Parkinson’s association.
Katz, Tamara. In San Francisco, Nov. 21. Wife of the late Abraham Katz. Mother of Nathan (and Jackie Haveman) Dwiri, Ruth (and Yigal) Levy and Elli (and Paul) Price. Grandmother of Cobi Levy, Jordan and Alexandra Price. Born in Lida, Poland, on Feb. 10, 1914. Holocaust survivor. Spent some of the wars years with the Bielsky Brothers partisans. Life member of Amit and Hadassah. Charter member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Funeral services were held at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma under the direction of Sinai Memorial Chapel. Wolff, Robert M. In Kihei, Hawaii, Nov 15. Age 73. Husband of Lynn Wolff for 50 years. Son of Marianne Wolff of Piedmont. Father of Judy Wolff-Bolton (and Woody Bolton), Barbara (and Aylon) Engler, Mark (and Josephine) Wolff and Haggai Wolff. “Grandpa Bob” to Ari, Dalia, Levi and Ezra Bolton; Maya, Jacob, and Evan Engler; and Matthew and Diedre Wolff. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in Hamburg, Germany. Came to America at age 6. Attended Piedmont High School and graduated with a business degree from U.C. Berkeley. Career with Farmers Insurance Co. in Oakland and Walnut Creek. After retirement taught computer skills at SeniorNet and traveled extensively. Active for 44 years with Temple Isaiah in Lafayette, where services were held. Donations to Temple Isaiah, 3800 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette CA 94549.
