De Graff, Ruth. In San Francisco, Dec. 31. Age 94. Wife of the late Eli De Graff. Mother of Steven (and Andrea) De Graff. Grandmother of Craig, Alison, Erin and Brent De Graff. Sister of Jerome Leavitt. Aunt and cousin to many. Active in Peninsula Jewish Community Center and Jewish War Veterans. Services were held in Los Angeles. Drabkin-Gomshay, Sylvia. In Walnut Creek, Dec. 26. Age 72. Wife of Philip Gomshay for 48 years. Mother of four daughters and three grandchildren. Sister of Riva Pinkas and Joseph Drabkin. Daughter of the late Bertha and Issic Drabkin. Born in San Francisco. Raised in Sonora. Valedictorian of Sonora Union High School. Received B.S. and teaching credential from U.C. Berkeley. Taught at Cragmont Elementary School in Berkeley and in San Jose. Donations to American Cancer Society, 300 West Portal Ave., S.F., CA 94127.

Grandfather of Dan, Jim and Joe Goldenberg. Brother of Z.S. (and Claudia) Goldenberg of Daly City. Born in San Francisco. Attended Lowell High School and U.C. Berkeley. Drum major for 3 years with Cal band. Served in Army with 90th Field Artillery in Korea. Owner of Zadocorp, International. Member of Lake Merced and La Costa Gold Clubs. Member of several motorcycle clubs including Blue Knights of California and Harley Davidson. Member of several police and sheriff departments including the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department for 18 years. Avid traveler. Enjoyed racquetball, golf and motorcycle riding. Involved with political and civic organizations. Ziegler, Samuel. In Walnut Creek. Jan. 5. Husband of the late Emma Ziegler. Father of Phillip Ziegler (and Tobey Hiller) and Laura Ziegler (and Don Bale). Grandfather of Josh (and Jan) Ziegler, David Bale and Ethan Schwartz (and Lisa Savage). Great-grandfather to Julia and Olivia Ziegler and Chiara Savage-Schwartz. Born Jan. 31, 1908. Oldest of seven children. One of first Jewish families to settle in San Jose. Received master’s degree in economics at Stanford. Taught for 35 years at San Francisco City College and University of San Francisco. Married in 1937 at Temple Emanuel. Member of Temple Emanuel and Peninsula Temple Sholom. After retirement lectured at Albert L. Schultz JCC in Palo Alto and Little House in Menlo Park. Delivered “Thoughts While Shaving” lecture at Contra Costa JCC. Founded ongoing Sam and Emma Ziegler Lecture Series. Memorial will be held Sunday, Jan. 30, at Contra Costa JCC. Donations to Sam and Emma Lecture Series, Contra Costa JCC, 2071 Tice Valley Blvd., Walnut Creek, CA 94595.
