Emanu-El Shabbat going to Potrero Hill

SOMAn’uel, Congregation Emanu-El’s Shabbat services, are going on the road once a month beginning Friday, Oct. 27.

On the last Friday of every month the First Friday Shabbat service and the Late Shabbat service for young adults will be held at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House at 953 De Haro St., S.F.

The first service will begin at 6 p.m. and the second at 7:30. Call (415) 751-2541 ext. 124 for more information.

Interfaith panel at CCJCC Nov. 12

The realities of growing up in an interfaith home will be the subject of a panel discussion at the Contra Costa JCC on Nov. 12.

The panel, facilitated by Dawn Kepler of Building Jewish Bridges: Outreach to Interfaith Families, will be filled by adults from interfaith homes ready to answer questions.

The Contra Costa JCC is located at 2071 Tice Valley Blvd in Walnut Creek. The panel discussion will begin at 2:20 p.m. and is free of charge. Call (925) 943-1484 for more information.

Marin JCC opens renovated pool

The Osher Marin Jewish Community Center has reopened its indoor pool. The facility has new tile edging, a resurfaced anti-slip pool deck, new lights, inside rinse showers and pool steps that run the length of the pool.

The renovated pool will still host a wide variety of classes. Classes include swimming lessons for infants and adults, physical therapy and group water exercise. For a complete schedule visit www.marinjcc.org.

Hungarian survivors get claims extension

The Hungarian government has extended the claims deadline for Shoah survivors and their heirs to December.

New way to register for Birthright trips

Taglit-Birthright Israel has opened registration online to Jewish young adults for participation in winter 2006/07 trips, running mid-December through February. The organization provides 10-day group trips to Israel for young adults ages 18 to 26 who have never before visited Israel with a peer group.

The trips span Israel’s ideological, religious, educational and cultural spectrum. Sponsors of Birthright Israel include the Israeli government, North American Jewish Federations through the United Jewish Communities (UJC), and private philanthropists.
