New registry for b’nai mitzvah gifts
www.TheMitzvah.com has launched an online gift registry for those celebrating a bar or bat mitzvah.
Stemming from the concept of a wedding registry, www.TheMitzvah.com provides a place for young Jews to create their own gift registry in a matter of minutes. Once registered, they can choose gift items from more than 15 categories, including Judaica, electronics, jewelry, books, sporting goods and more.
In a survey conducted by www.TheMitzvah.com, parents said they spend an average of six to eight hours per week planning for their child’s bar or bat mitzvah. In addition, it is not uncommon their children to attend dozens of their friends coming-of-age simchas over a one-and-a-half year span.
www.TheMitzvah.com has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from each registry to the registrant’s synagogue.
