Theodore Bikel to host Koret Book Awards in S.F.

The Koret International Jewish Book Awards, managed for the first time this year by Jewish Family & Life! in cooperation with the National Foundation for Jewish Culture, will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. Legendary entertainer Theodore Bikel will host the show.

Prizes totaling $25,000 will be awarded to winning authors in the categories of fiction, Jewish thought, Jewish life and living, children’s literature, and — for the first time — the JBooks.com People’s Choice Award, given for the decade’s best work of fiction as determined by public votes tallied on JBooks.com. The 2006 People’s Choice Award goes to Jonathan Safran Foer for his work “Everything is Illuminated.”

All other winners can be found online at www.koretfoundation.org. For more information on attending the event, call (415) 292-1233.
