Lighting up the bay for Chanukah

Public Chanukah menorah lightings by Bay Area Chabad centers will take place throughout the Bay Area later this month. They include:

Chabad of S.F. will celebrate the 32nd Bill Graham Menorah Day with music by RebbeSoul beginning 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Union Square, S.F. (415) 668-6178.

Chabad of Marin will hold a menorah lighting with live music and dancing at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Northgate Mall, San Rafael. (415) 492-1666.

Chabad of Contra Costa hosts a menorah lighting with live music and face-painting beginning 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. (925) 937-4101.

Chabad Jewish Center of Sonoma is lighting a public menorah 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Coddington Mall, Santa Rosa. (707) 577-0277.

Chabad of the Greater South Bay will kindle a giant Lego menorah 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at City Hall Plaza, 250 Hamilton Ave., Palo Alto. Children are invited to participate in the construction of the menorah. (650) 424-9800.

Chabad of the East Bay is lighting a public menorah at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Bay Street Emeryville at the Plaza, 5816 Bay St., Emeryville and 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Cody’s Bookstore, 1730 Fourth St., Berkeley. With live music and balloons by Buki the Clown. (510) 540-5824.

Chabad of San Jose is hosting a celebration with entertainment, a raffle and the lighting of a giant menorah 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Paseo de San Antonio in downtown San Jose. (408) 358-5530.

Chabad of Sunnyvale presents its second annual “Chanukah Celebration at Homestead Lanes” with a giant menorah, bowling and arts and crafts at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Homestead Lanes, 20990 Homestead Road, Cupertino. (408) 720-0553.

Chabad of Monterey is lighting a public menorah at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Del Monte Shopping Center near the fountain in Monterey. (831) 643-2770.

Chabad of Mill Valley’s “Grand Menorah Lighting” with music, face painting and other festivities will begin 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Village at Corte Madera, 1618 Redwood Highway, Corte Madera. (415) 381-3794.

Chabad of the North Peninsula will have an ice-carved menorah, real snow and live music at 6 p.m. Dec. 19 at Burlingame Avenue Caltrain station in Burlingame. (650) 341-4510.
