Deaths


Pauline Abrahams in Walnut Creek on January 9, 2007 at age 92. Beloved wife of the late Irving Abrahams; loving mother of Sharon Weiss, Hank Abrahams, and Dorian Watts; devoted grandmother of Greg, Elisa and Barry Weiss, Sethy and Eleanore Watts; adoring great grandmother of Garrett, Kyle and Kira Weiss and Leigh Ann Tashijan; sister of Corinne Neiger and dear aunt and cousin to many.

Graveside services were held on January 12th at 10 a.m. graveside at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, Garden of Remembrance. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.


Hannah Beth Engle, whose tragic death occurred on Jan. 22, 2006 at age 25 in New York City. Unveiling Jan. 21, 1 p.m. at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.


Rosanne A. “Nan” Levitsky of Palo Alto passed away Dec. 24 at 81. Nan was a longtime enameling teacher and also worked at Syntex/Roche. A second-generation Californian, she grew up in Southern California, graduating from UCLA in 1948. She moved to Palo Alto in 1957 where she and her husband, Moe, raised a family and were among the early members of Congregation Kol Emeth. She is survived by a son, Robert, of Palo Alto; daughter, Susanne, of Davis; son, David, of Wenatchee, WA, and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Richard. Services and burial took place at the Home of Peace Cemetery in Sacramento.


Marlen Saul Rabiroff was born on April 8, 1933 in Buffalo NY and died Dec. 16, 2006 in San Rafael, California.

Marlen graduated from Fairfax High class of 1950 in Los Angeles where he was star football player and where he met his wife Bunny. Together they raised four sons. Marlen was a devoted and loving husband to Bunny until her death in 2002. He was fortunate to find the final love of his life in Ruth Gundelfinger who filled the last four years of Marlen’s life with love and adventure. Marlen and Ruth exchanged vows in a personal ceremony on Dec. 8, 2006.

Marlen was a Journeyman Inside Wireman and proud member of the IBEW Local 11. He received his fifty five year service award and was in service for 57 years. He also was a gifted musician and teacher of folk guitar. He passed his love of music onto his sons. Marlen loved to play bridge and was a skilled wood worker.

Though Marlen was a man of few words, he had a quick wit and had the ability to make people laugh. With an amazing memory, he had a joke or clever comment for every situation.

Marlen is survived by his sons: David, Ken, Robin and Andrew and seven grandsons (Greg, Tim, Mike, Aaron, Zach, Nathan and Calvin) and sister, Evelyn.
