Is my favorite cafe green?
The Bay Area Green Business Program monitors and judges businesses in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Sonoma counties. More than 850 businesses and public agencies have been certified since 1996.
To be certified green, businesses must comply with a lengthy list of regulations and meet standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.
All certified businesses are listed on the agency’s Web site, www.greenbiz.ca.gov.
Some of the businesses in the accompanying story are green-certified. For more information about them, check their Web sites or visit them in San Francisco.
