Coexistence leader to speak on Haifa project

A leader in Israel’s coexistence efforts will speak in the Bay Area on Sunday, April 22.

Fathi Marshood will speak in Woodside and Oakland about his work in Haifa for the S.F.-based New Israel Fund.

Marshood will discuss NIF’s initiative to make Haifa into a model city of coexistence between Jewish and Arab Israelis. Haifa is the first city in which coexistence efforts will be implemented. It was chosen because it is the largest of Israel’s five mixed cities, said Steve Rothman, director of NIF in San Francisco.

The brunch in Oakland is from noon to 2 p.m., and the dinner in Woodside is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The events are at private residences, so if interested in attending, leave a message on the NIF voice mail at (415) 543-5055 and someone will get back to you with the address.
