death
Roslyn Fuerman “I will miss you traveling on latest adventures, sitting by the campfire, planning gatherings at my beloved ranch in Willits, gathering together at Easter, Passover Seder and other holiday celebrations, Thanksgiving family reunions, drumming, long walks on the pier and living in Berkeley, my home for 29 years”
Ros left us on Saturday May 26, 2007, following her courageous struggle with cancer.
Survived by life partner Fern Leaf, daughter Katherine Gulley of Oakland, mother Marjorie Fuerman of North Canton, Ohio, brothers David of Mattapoisett and Ross of New Center, Massachusetts and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by father Warren Fuerman.
Born in Lynchberg, Virginia on September 22, 1947, a graduate of The Ohio State University, 1969, she taught in Denver, Colorado for five years, sailed the South Seas and settled in Berkeley in 1976. Owned a computer business “All Things Macintosh” and carried on a family tradition of philanthropy and good works, making donations large and small to a number of organizations that work to make the world a better place. A housing provider, Ros fought the battle and led local efforts to make real estate transfer tax neutral, therefore treating same sex partners equally to married couples in this small way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Ros to NAMI of California, 1010 Hurley Way, Suite 195, Sacramento, CA 95825 or Open House, 870 Market Street, Suite 724, San Francisco, CA 94102.
Memorial service will be held Friday June 1 at 3 pm at the Northbrae Community Center, 941 The Alameda, Berkeley.
