Entertainment for the older set

“Seniors.” “Elders.” “Mature adults.”

Call them what you want ... Let’s just say that veterans of life might enjoy the entertainment specially selected for them at the To Life street fair.

The 899 Charleston Seniors’ Stage — a name that reflects the residence for older adults that will go up at the new Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life in Palo Alto — will present some popular acts that’ve perennially drawn crowds at To Life.

Returning as funnywoman emcee is Lynn Ruth Miller, a writer, actress, comedian and artist based on the Peninsula. She’ll get things rolling at noon, throwing some standup into the mix.

Two local choral groups, the Yiddish Choristers and HaShirim community chorale, will reach into their wide-ranging repertoires to present music that spans the ages.

One of the best-loved groups by far, according to To Life entertainment coordinator Raya Zion, is the Fantasy Dance Group. The Mountain View dance studio offers a variety of classe, from hip-hop to belly dancing. But the colorfully dressed, youthful Russian dancers who’ve performed at To Life in the past have always proven to be crowd-pleasers. The dancers will be on stage from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., when festival attendance should be at its peak.

Wrapping things up will be klezmer singer Heather Lauren Klein and die Gute Neshomas. The musical coupling definitely breaks stereotypes with their Yiddish klezmer and cabaret show, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
