Street fest keeps kids’ hands, ears and eyes busy

Looking for something to do with the kids? At To Life, there will be plenty of options — from onstage entertainment by kids for kids, to supervised games and crafts activities sponsored by Jewish day schools and communal organizations.

Among activities in the children’s area:

Construct a suncatcher (South Peninsula Hebrew Day School and Etz Chayim Congregation);

Craft a pop-up museum complete with a self-portrait (Contemporary Jewish Museum);

Build a tzedakah box (Almaden Valley Torah Center);

Create a stained-glass-lookalike hamsa (Palo Alto School for Jewish Education);

K’vod Ha-teva — honor nature and recycle (Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center);

Make a welcome sign (Yavneh Day School).

In addition, BBYO has organized an art contest with the theme “Tree of Life.” There will be two age groups, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10. Supplies will be provided.

Youngsters with energy to burn can do some jumping in the “Bounce House” and on the inflatable slide, while those seeking a more sedentary pursuit can sit for a decorative face-painting.

Meanwhile, starting at noon, the Ira A. Roschelle M.D. Family Foundation Children’s Stage will present:

Inbal Drukker and Heather Klein singing songs in Hebrew and English;

Palo Alto JCC summer campers’ performance;

New head of Yavneh Day School and “Mitzvah Bee” student competition;

Interactive games, activities and contests;

Kehillah Jewish High School band concert;

Congregation Beth David religious school choir;

And ShiriYa, featuring traditional Jewish and Israeli songs.
