At least a dozen Bay Area synagogues and Jewish organizations will hold classes on how to prepare for the High Holy Days.

“A Sacred Journey for the Soul,” 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Temple Beth Jacob, 1550 Alameda de las Pulgas, Redwood City.
“Who Shall Live,” a play followed by discussion, 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Congregation Sherith Israel, 2266 California St., San Francisco.
“Who Do You Want to Be?” workshop for interfaith couples about creating your own rituals, 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, 3200 California St., S.F. Led by Rabbi Eve Ben Ora and Helena McMahon.

South Bay:
“Tsotsi,” a film screening and discussion, 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Congregation Sinai, 1532 Willowbrae Ave., San Jose. Rabbi Joshua Berkenwald will lead a discussion about the movie’s themes of repentance and personal transformation. Selichot at 11:15 p.m. following the movie.
