Kol Nidre live streaming

scheduled from L.A. temple

JewishTVNetwork.com will stream a live Kol Nidre service over the Internet from the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles. The event takes place on the evening of Sept. 21.

JewishTVNetwork.com, which features a mix of entertainment and news channels celebrating the Jewish experience, will offer additional High Holy Days programming, including cooking tips, children’s entertainment, rabbinical insights, Israel news and home crafts features.

Established earlier this year, JewishTVNetwork.com is a service of JTN Productions, an independent production company focused on creating quality Jewish-themed entertainment. It can be found on the Web at www.jewishtvnetwork.com.

Chabad telethon has a $7 million night

It was another big night for Chabad, as the Chassidic organization’s 2007 “To Life” telethon, which aired Sunday, Sept. 9, pulled in close to $7.2 million in viewer pledges.

Hosted by actor/comedian Elon Gold, the 27th annual telethon feature many stars, including film producer Jerry Weintraub, actors Jon Voight, Mare Winningham and Martin Sheen, and California’s governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Seen in cities across the country, the telethon is a project of Chabad-Lubavitch of the West Coast. All proceeds go toward programs run by Chabad of the West Coast, headquartered in Los Angeles.

Composer slated at Aptos temple

Yuval Ron, the Israeli composer and performer who scored the popular short film “West Bank Story,” will be coming to the Bay Area for a concert at an Aptos synagogue.

Following a Sept. 24 screening of the Oscar-winning screen comedy at Temple Beth El, Ron and his trio will play a blend of Middle Eastern and diaspora Jewish music.

The event takes place 7:30 p.m. at the temple, 3055 Porter Gulch Road, Aptos. Tickets: $15 to $18. For more information, call (831) 479-3444 or online at www.tbeaptos.org.

S.F. Opera to score with simulcast at AT&T Park

San Francisco Opera will team up with the S.F. Giants to present a live simulcast of Camille Saint-Saens’ “Samson and Delilah.”

The performance will be transmitted by high-definition from the War Memorial Opera House to AT&T Park’s Diamond Vision scoreboard, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. Admission is free.

Led by conductor Patrick Summers, the production stars mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina as Delilah and tenor Clifton Forbis as Samson.

Sarah Silverman and ‘Curb’

return — yada, yada, yada

Larry David fans hungry for a “Curb” fix need wait no longer. The “Seinfeld” co-creator’s popular HBO comedy, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is now back for its sixth season.

Playing himself, David perfects the art of the faux pas in every episode, and often with a Jewish twist. The show airs 10 p.m. Sundays on HBO.

Another Jewish performer, Sarah Silverman, is back for a second season of “The Sarah Silverman Program,” beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3 on Comedy Central.

In the premiere episode, Sarah discovers that the community group she’s joined (for their lemon bars) is really a radical anti-abortion group determined to bomb the clinic where her sister volunteers.

The DVD of the show’s first season arrives in stores Oct. 2.
