Walt Disney Co. to go after Hamas

The Walt Disney Co. plans to take action against Hamas for its hate-mongering Mickey Mouse look-alike.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry has received an assurance from Diane Disney Miller, the daughter of Walt Disney, that the corporation will take unspecified steps against Hamas.

The move follows Hamas’ use of anti-Israel Farfur in a children’s television show broadcast from the Gaza Strip. It was not immediately clear what legal clout Disney might have against Hamas, which already is isolated internationally. — jta

Republicans pledge embassy move

Surrogates for three Republican presidential candidates pledged they would move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem if elected.

In a debate last week in New York, campaign representatives for Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney promised to respect an American law calling for the embassy’s transfer from Tel Aviv.

The debate, held at a Manhattan law firm, was organized by the Republican Jewish Coalition. — jta

Rabbis, imams plan annual dialogue

Participants in a recent interfaith summit agreed to gather annually for Jewish-Muslim dialogue.

The weekend prior to Thanksgiving is the date proposed for the national event, according to the text of a resolution adopted at the conclusion of last week’s summit.

“We call upon the leaders of the American Muslim and Jewish communities to encourage their followers to participate actively in this weekend, so that true love, respect, friendship and cooperation may become the hallmark of our relationship,” the resolution said. — jta
