Fired up for Chanukah
Public menorah lightings will be held around the Bay Area, with convenient after-school times for the little ones and some (slightly) after-dark options as well.
Chabad Jewish Center of Sonoma County will hold large menorah lightings, complete with dreidels, donuts, prizes and music. The lightings are at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Whole Foods Market, 201 West Napa St., Sonoma; 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Oliver’s Market, 461 Stony Point Road, Santa Rosa; and 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at Coddingtown Mall, Santa Rosa. The 33rd Bill Graham Menorah Festival will hold daily lightings Dec. 4 to 11

Contra Costa Grand Menorah Lighting will be held 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Promenade Fountain, Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Details at www.jewishcontracosta.com.

Chabad of Oakland will hold a grand menorah lighting 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Piedmont Park, 711 Highland Ave. Information: (510) 444-6770.
Chabad of the East Bay’s menorah lightings — with the Ferris Wheels, a sing-along and Buki the Clown, will be held 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at Bay Street Mall, 5604 Bay St., Emeryville and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Cody’s Bookstore, 1730 Fourth St., Berkeley.
Chabad of Mill Valley will hold a menorah lighting 4:30 p.m. Dec. 9 outside Nordstroms at The Village, Corte Madera; latkes, donuts, etc.
Chabad of Noe Valley menorah lighting, with music, latkes and menorah building, takes place Dec. 12 at the corner of 24th St. and Noe, S.F. Festivities start at 3 p.m. with lighting at 5 p.m. For information call (415) 821-7046.
