Holocaust hero accused of con
Holocaust hero Aron Bell formerly known as Aron Bielski was arrested last week on charges of swindling a 93-year-old woman, herself a Catholic survivor of the Holocaust.
Bell, 80, and his wife, Henryka, 58, are accused of tricking the woman into giving them control of more than $250,000 in various bank accounts.
According to police, the couple then convinced the woman they were taking her on a vacation to her native Poland, and instead put her in a nursing home there, returned to Palm Beach, Fla., and spent her money, nearly every penny.
During World War II, Bell and his three older brothers mounted what was, by most accounts, the biggest armed rescue of Jews by Jews during the Holocaust. ap
