E.B. federation kicks off leadership series
The Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay will kick off its East Bay Jewish Community Leadership Series with an appearance by Scott Shay, who will speak on “Invigorating Jewish Education” at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette. Admission is free.
Scott Shay is the author of “Getting Our Groove Back — How to Energize American Jewry.” He is on the board of UJA-Federation of N.Y., Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education and the Jewish Agency, as well as chair of the Fund for Jewish Education.
Agency, synagogue and school leaders, community volunteers and donors are encouraged to attend.
Topics include strengthening synagogues, schools, centers and agencies; providing children with an engaging Jewish education; and enhancing the ability to serve present and emerging communal needs.

Expert to speak on love, sex and intimacy
The North Peninsula Women’s Alliance of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation will host a lecture by noted sex therapist Marty Klein on the subjects of love, sex and intimacy in Jewish relationships. His talk will explore Jewish values pertaining to sex, ways of keeping sex fresh and how to communicate with partners.
A marriage and family counselor, sex therapist and author of five books, Klein has given hundreds of talks on sexuality throughout America and in a dozen countries. He has also written articles for such publications as Parents New Woman magazines, the Journal of Sex Research and San Francisco Medicine.
Klein’s presentation takes place 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School, 800 Foster City Boulevard, Foster City. Tickets: $10. Attendees may pre-register at www.sfjcf.org/calendar/jcf.
Nurses welcome on Israel mission
American and Israeli nurses can tour the Jewish state while earning education credits in an upcoming mission sponsored by Hadassah and the Women’s Zionist Organization of America. The mission runs from March 20 to 28.
