A seder in five steps
Tu B’Shevat is Tuesday, Jan. 22. Think you don’t have enough time to host a seder? Think again. Here are the basics:
1) Find a seder you like. The Internet is full of suggestions and complete haggadahs that can be printed and photocopied. Or make your own by asking each guest to contribute a reading related to Judaism, nature or trees.
2) Invite your friends. No seder is complete without a little shmooze.
3) Buy fruit or nuts that grow on trees and represent the three categories of fruits symbolic in the seder.
4) Buy wine, both white and red. Or for the under-21 crowd, buy light and dark grape or fruit juice.
5) Eat, drink, be merry and act. Find ways to incorporate the values of Tu B’Shevat into your daily life.
