JFCS looking for a bit of Passover assistance

No matter what side of the bay you’re on, you have a chance to do a mitzvah this Passover.

Both the S.F.-based and East Bay Jewish Family and Children’s Services will deliver meals and Passover groceries to the elderly, disabled and needy, and they’re looking for help.

The S.F.-based JFCS is looking for donations to help fill “Seder Sacks” with Passover staples such as matzah and macaroons — $18 buys one Seder Sack and $90 buys five. The organization is also taking on volunteers to help deliver the sacks to homebound seniors, people with disabilities, recently arrived émigrés and families in crisis.

JFCS of the East Bay also is looking for sponsors to donate money and volunteers to deliver Passover meals and bags of groceries to some 80 households in Contra Costa and Alameda counties. The delivery day is April 18 between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and volunteers will be able to pick up bags at JFCS’ offices in Berkeley or Walnut Creek.
