Jewish museum holds all-night event

In celebration of San Francisco’s new Contemporary Jewish Museum, there will be all-night cultural arts festival June 7.

Hosted by the CJM and nonprofit organization Reboot, Dawn ’08 will celebrate the museum’s grand opening along with Jewish holiday of Shavuot. The event runs from 8 p.m. until 3 a.m.

Taking place throughout the museum, Dawn ’08 will include performances, films, guest appearances and an early look at installations. There will be a screening of the classic Jewish silent film “Benya Krik,” an appearance by “Everything is Illuminated” author Jonathan Safran Foer and a screening of “B’nei Sakhnin,” about the first Arab soccer team to become champion of Israel.

Cambodian and American psychedelic pop group Dengue Fever will play a performance with DJ Yossi Fine. Attendees will also get the chance to explore the museum’s new building and exhibits before the public opening the following day.

The festivities begin at 8 p.m. on
