Science Olympics

Leanna Kinsey, daughter of Lynne and Stephen Kinsey of San Jose, will join 21 teens from the United States, Canada and England at the Israel National Museum of Science's Olympiyeda -- "Olympics of the Mind" -- an international science competition taking place next month at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. The Lincoln High School junior is the only Northern California participant, having passed a series of tests administered at the Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center.

Mysticism workshop set in Watsonville

A workshop on the mystical side of Judaism will take place Sunday, Aug. 4 to 11 at Mount Madonna Center, 445 Summit Road, Watsonville.

Former Hillsborough resident

Rabbi Mark Bloom of the Jewish Family Congregation in South Salem, N.Y., will speak at 8 p.m. Friday Aug. 9 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Congregation Beth Israel-Judea, 625 Brotherhood Way, S.F.
