Minister wants more Hebron Jews
JERUSALEM (JPS) -- Israeli Environment and Agriculture Minister Rafael Eitan has called for the Jewish settlement in Hebron to b "I support a large, strong, Jewish settlement in Hebron," Eitan said on Sunday. "Why should Jews be forbidden to live in Hebron
That same day, the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee toured Hebron and learned that the Israeli army has not been asked by the government to prepare an alternative proposal to the current redeployment plan for Hebron. Netanyahu is currently reviewing the scheduled Hebron withdrawal, which is part of the Oslo Accords.
