Survivor slates speeches throughout the Bay Area

Rudolf Vrba, who escaped Auschwitz and went on to dictate a famous report on its atrocities, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May
The memorial service, which is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and Holocaust Center of Northern California,

Vrba, meanwhile, will speak at several other venues. At 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, he will address a Yom HaShoah commemoration at Congregation Beth Am, 26790 Arastradero Rd., Los Altos Hills. Also that day, he will speak to faculty and students at Stanford University, as well as teachers from schools.

The next day at 4 p.m., he will deliver a lecture titled "Resisting Evil: A Personal Account" at Warren Auditorium in Ives Hall at Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park. The lecture is sponsored by the school's Alliance for the Study of the Holocaust.

Then at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, Vrba will deliver the same lecture at U.C. Berkeley's International House, 2299 Piedmont Ave. The lecture is sponsored by Berkeley Hillel.

Vrba's visit has been made possible by a grant from the Holocaust Education Fund of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Endowment Fund. For information on any of the events, call the JCRC at (415) 957-1551 or the Holocaust Center at (415) 751-6040.
