Peace Now claims settlers building more in West Bank
JERUASALEM (JPS) -- The Israeli peace group Peace Now alleges that Jewish settlers are behind a new West Bank building boom. But the settlers' Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza denies it.
But settlers' council chairman Pinhas Wallerstein said, "There is nothing new in the reports about settlers living on military outposts; many have been living in outposts for years." Defense Minister Yitzhhak Mordechai's media adviser, Avi Benayahu, said that no new settlements are being established in the West Bank. Israel Radio broadcast a report about settlers living in shipping containers in Ofri. The settlers were detained by police.
