East Bay Shorts Conservative women plan conference
The Northern California Branch of Women's League for Conservative Judaism will hold a conference at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 8 at Tem Evelyn Seelig, who is the league's national president, will be keynote speaker. Joining her in a program that emphasizes Judaism
BBYO kicks off area membership drive Central Region B'nai B'rith Youth Organization's Rush Sunday membership drive will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. June 1. The campaign will be based at various chapter locations around the Bay Area. A new Oakland-Berkeley chapter, for example, will meet at Berkeley Hillel, 2736 Bancroft Way. San Francisco No. 1 chapter for girls and Sam Beber chapter for boys will meet at Stern Grove, 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard. Kids in the Campbell-San Jose area will meet at John D. Morgan Park, Budd and San Tomas Expressway, Campbell. Those in the Danville-Walnut Creek-Moraga-Lafayette area will meet at The Cabana Club on Campolindo Drive in Moraga. Survivors' children to discuss their lives An eight-week discussion group for children of Holocaust survivors will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 and continue through July 30 at Jewish Family and Children's Services of the East Bay, 2484 Shattuck Ave., Suite 210, Berkeley. Topics, including the experience of growing up in a survivor family, will be facilitated by Yoka Verdoner, Holocaust Survivor Services coordinator. Cost is $10 per session.
