Music series set to open at Marin JCC
Schwartz is an Oscar and Grammy Award-winning songwriter, who wrote the lyrics for Disney's "Pocahontas" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Singers Brian Lane Green and Lisa Vroman will join him on the stage. Next in the series will be cabaret and concert singer Karen Mason at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, and 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Mason's theater credits include "Jerome Robbins' Broadway" and "Torch Song Trilogy." In her first Bay Area appearance, she will perform a collection of popular songs. Cabaret singer Andrea Marcovicci will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Weslia Whitefield, jazz-cabaret singer, will appear at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7 and 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8. Eric Michael Gillet and Melanie Vaughan will perform "It Takes Two: the Duets of Stephen Sondheim" at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 25, and 5 p.m. Sunday April 26. Gillet was a singing ringmaster with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Vaughan has starred on Broadway. The MJCC is located at 200 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael.
