During several telephone conversations with the alleged blackmailer, Netanyahu found out his identity, set up a meeting on Tuesday of last week to "pay him the money" and pick up the notebooks. An undercover police officer showed up at the meeting for her.

Elimelech was arrested at the meeting and released that evening.

Elimelech apparently told police that he merely wanted to meet with Netanyahu or her messenger to return the diaries and notebooks, which he had found. He admitted that he expected the messenger to pay him for the books.
