Anti-Semitic comic recalled from racks
NEW YORK (JTA) -- Marvel Comics has recalled a comic book that contains an anti-Semitic slur. The latest issue of Wolverine, which went on sale on Yom Kippur, includes a scene in which a character refers to an adversary as
"We're very, very sorry it happened, and we're taking measures to make sure nothing like this ever happens again," she said. She added that the slur was discovered Tuesday, after the issue had been sent to retailers. The incident comes just three months after rival DC Comics was criticized for an issue that depicted Superman fighting the horrors of the Holocaust, but which omitted any references to Jews in the story.
